The APT Charitable Trust was founded by Mr James Edmonds in 1994 following a serious injury to a friend, Trevor Jones, who subsequently found a new interest and meaning to life by learning to fly. The Trust was founded with the objective of providing facilities to teach seriously physically disabled people to fly, giving them the opportunity to enjoy the freedom of the sky. Our purpose is to help them recover a belief in themselves and a degree of independence and confidence in their self-worth that enables them to face their difficulties and find a new challenge and purpose in their lives. The APT Trust uses specially adapted CFM Shadow Microlight aircraft, and operates from the Old Sarum Airfield near Salisbury in Wiltshire. Hangarage, servicing and tuition are provided by the adjoining Shadow Flight Centre.
